Reducing environmental impact of shipping: the role of ports

There are several challenges when it comes to the transition to a sustainable shipping sector, but there are also incentives on shore to solve some of shipping's environmental adaptions; for instance, by improving reception facilities in ports. With a focus on water-based waste, this pre-study takes a comprehensive approach regarding the environmental impact of shipping in the port and identifies opportunities and obstacles to sustainable development of ports and how it can contribute to an improved environment.
