The Cargo Ship annual theme day 2011 focussed on “Offshore structures and wind energy”.
Offshore structures and wind mills are structures which are designed according to principles based on risk analysis. Invited speakers from industry presented interesting projects on these topics and outlined the need for future research activities.
Two PhD students at Chalmers, Luis Sanchez and Hans Liwång, presented their ongoing research which incorporates risk analysis applied on safe and efficient design of composite structures and how to construct ships to protect them against piracy attacks, respectively.
