Algae on the hull and poor track of how much fuel the ship actually uses. These are two of many things that affect energy efficiency negatively on ships, but with small adjustments this can be bridged. And until then money is lost. Hannes Johnson's research is focused on why measures aren't taken and what can be done to get the shipping industry going.
