Deadline for Interreg call coming up

February 9 is the closing date for the first call of 2018 for Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak. Areas of support are innovation, low-carbon economy, transport and employment. A project currently funded by Interreg is NÖKS II, which explores the possibility of short sea shipping and transfer of goods from road to sea in the region of Öresund-Kattegatt-Skagerrak.

Supported projects shall help to solve common challenges and exploit joint forces in one of the four areas and help to make the region of Öresund, Kattegat and Skagerrak strong and competitive.

About the area of transport, Interreg writes:

The Öresund-Kattegat Skagerrak area needs effective and sustainable transport to develop a cohesive, attractive and accessible cross-border region. Increased accessibility creates larger labor markets that strengthen international competitiveness.

In the area of connectivity, the programme will support connecting transport corridors with the TEN-T network, mainly by complementing planned TEN-T projects.

The transport area has three specific goals;

  • to improve accessibility to and through the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak region
  • to reduce transport time with environmentally friendly modes of transport for people and goods to the nearest hub in TEN-T
  • to increase environmentally friendly transport work in selected corridors, including in the TEN-T nuclear network as well as in and around urban areas
