Helena Strand, new coordinator at Lighthouse

Since early April, Helena Strand works part-time as a coordinator at Lighthouse. Helena shares her working hours between Lighthouse and the Swedish Shipowners' Association. As a coordinator at Lighthouse she is an important part of the Lighthouse office and is responsible for, among other things, seminars and workshops.

- I'm really looking forward to be working at Lighthouse during the next six months, and in supporting the collaboration between industry, academia and government, says Helena Strand.

Helena is a political scientist and has previously worked at the University of Gothenburg in various research projects as a project assistant. The projects have addressed marine related issues in different ways, such as sustainable anti-fouling methods for recreational vessels, marine spatial planning and aquaculture.

- In the maritime sector, shipping has a central role both in terms of size and importance. It will be exciting to get a deeper insight into current research and development issues in the industry. As a political scientist, I also think that the international dimension of shipping and global governance through IMO are very interesting in this context.
