"Transport Analysis can, in the context of the current self-financing principle, make suggestions for adjustments to achieve better environmental and climate benefits and to facilitate the goal of moving long-distance trucking to shipping.
The Swedish Maritime Administration is a commercial enterprise and is mainly financed by the fees that commercial shipping pay. To ensure that the Maritime Administration has a balanced budget no later than December 31, 2017 the Swedish government gave the adminsitration the task to draw up a new model for fees. The Swedish Maritime Administration's key revenue is fairway and pilotage dues. Transport Analysis will now be given the task to carry out an environmental impact assessment of the proposed changes in the fairway dues.
- Sweden is to become one of the world's first fossil-free welfare countries. This requires that we together actively work to reduce emissions. Part of the work is that transports must be used in a smarter and more efficient way, for example, to move freight from road to rail and shipping, says Infrastructure Minister Anna Johansson.
The final report shall be presented no later than 1 July 2017."
