Open House at Chalmers simulation centre

The 19th of June Sweden’s most extensive shipping simulation centre for education and research was open for the public. Many visitors took the opportunity to learn more about the work at Chalmers Shipping and Marine Technology and get a real experience of how it is to be a captain on a ship.

It was crowded in the simulators during the open house.

The simulator centre is in large parts financed by Lighthouse. Janna Meyer, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Education, came to the open house with a great interest in the work of the institution.
- I think this is fun. It is a different way of doing things that I have not seen before, says Janna.

Also Thomas Hillman, university lector, and Adam Chapman, a first doctoral fellow, decided to visit the open house out of curiosity.
- This is a unique form of teaching. It is amazing and I’ve never seen so much equipment. Also the detail is impressive. It really shows the course work as well, says Thomas Hillman.
- It is awesome and so much fun. I tried large ones before and that was difficult, this smaller one was easier, says Adam Chapman who just tried to steer in one of the smaller simulators.

Next opportunity to visit the simulator centre is the 19th of December, 09.00-15.00. Register by sending an e-mail to katarina.ancic [at] (Katarina Ancic), write your name, number of participants and the time you wish to visit.
